Transparency International - Bulgaria continues its advocacy campaign to implement business integrity standards in the energy sector, aimed at enhancing the transparency and accountability of companies in this field.
The implementation of business integrity standards, conflict of interest prevention, and protection from corrupt practices are part of our efforts to support higher corporate ethics and sustainable governance in the sector.
The absence of such standards in the energy sector creates preconditions for corruption and damages, which not only undermines public trust but also exposes companies to serious reputational and financial risks. The possibility of unethical actions, the lack of clarity in managing conflicts of interest, and weak accountability mechanisms are only some of the issues we seek to change through the “Business Integrity” initiative.
The business integrity standards include the implementation of mechanisms for managing whistleblower reports, gender equality policies and protection against discrimination, data privacy, as well as specific disciplinary measures and risk management tailored to the sector.
There by, the energy sector will be able to ensure a safer and more stable environment for development, as well as establish better conditions for employees and service providers.
