MBAL Knyaginya Klementina \u2013 Sofia is going to be one of the first hospitals in Bulgaria to implement Business Integrity standards. This is a result of continuous and thorough joint work with experts form Transparency International-Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MBAL Knyaginya Klementina is a successor of one of the oldest hospitals in Sofia \u2013 its construction began in 1889. Today the medical facility is one of the first to take advantage of the international good management experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a lack of ethical infrastructure in the Bulgarian economy which negatively reflects the level of economical development, the quality of life and the effectiveness of public institutions. The energy, healthcare and industry sectors are those which require special attention and purposeful efforts. There are single elements of ethical rules and standards in those sectors which are either not successively developed or cover only particular aspects. For example in the healthcare sector there are ethical standards and the respectful monitoring tools but they reflect only the medical side of ethics and directly affect the medical activity and do not consider the economical aspects in thee work of the different structures. Besides the existence of some rules (for example regarding receiving \u201cgifts\u201d and conflict of interests among the medical employees), they do not cover all administration levels, management or suppliers of medicines, equipment and medical supplies that the hospitals work with.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After a thorough analyze of the provided documentation and its assessment from the TI-Bulgaria's experts, a package of recommendations regarding future development will be prepared. As an essential part of the Business Integrity standards will be implemented whistleblowing policy, as well as policies for managing disciplinary proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implementing Business Integrity standards will affect the practical aspects of work of the hospital employees. Except for better management they will receive better protection in conflict of interest cases, better work culture and internal communication as well as increased patients trust.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
