Transparency International – Bulgaria and the executive authorities of the Council of Ministers signed a Memorandum for cooperation in the field of anticorruption, good governance and rule of law on the 1st of March 12, 2024.
As part of the global anticorruption organization Transparency International being active in more than 100 countries in the world, TI-Bulgaria works for over 25 years for the development of civil society and improving the anticorruption capacity of public institutions, judicial system, regional and national administration and businesses through good governance practices. The organization`s expertise has been recognized from number of European and international organizations and in 2023 our efforts have received another recognition – a special consultation status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Our approach rests on the understanding that categorical, radical and sustainable changes in anticorruption in Bulgaria may happen only after the changes in the attitudes of society, businesses and administration and the application of international and European standards for good governance. Thus, our cooperation will be focused on implementing clusters of measures in this direction.
Among them are Business Integrity Standards implementation, good governance models that correspond to the OECD goals and the modern ESG strategies, the civil monitoring of public procurement with significant importance and value through Integrity Pacts implementation and much more.
The cooperation with the executive authorities will upgrade the developed mechanisms for better business environment, good governance monitoring and the management of corruption risks in a broad spectrum of spheres of the public and economic life through increasing the attractiveness of the country for foreign investors and the competitiveness of the Bulgarian businesses.
We believe that the joint initiative will bring positive development in the field of anticorruption policies, change of attitude and sustainable environment transformation.
